NEW CONSTRUCTION
 
New Construction Requirements
 
A)  Complete an 'Application for Membership' form and 'Right-of-Way' easement form.  The easement form must have a detailed legal description of the property as listed on the property deed.
 
B)  Fees
 
Residential

$125.00 Minimum Billing Deposit*
$50.00 Connect Fee (During normal working hours**)

Commercial

$5.00 Membership Fee
$250.00 Minimum Billing Deposit*
$50.00 Connect Fee (During normal working hours**)
$305.00 Total

C)  The applicant must apply for county or city permits as service cannot be provided until appropriate inspections have been made by city or county codes enforcement offices.  The applicant should present the Cooperative with copies of these permits or the permit numbers.

D)  Location of the meter is the sole responsibility of the Cooperative as published by the Florida Public Service Commission Rule 25-6-50.

E)  The applicant agrees not to attach anything to Cooperative equipment and poles.  The meter base and stack must be exposed at all times except for a maximum of 14" through the soffit or attic of the building.

F)  The applicant will be required to install their own meter pole or have an electrician set this pole to meet Cooperative specifications (As located on the back of the 'Application for Membership or Service' form).

G)  The meter base must be provided by the applicant.

H)  Where new construction is required and there has to be a right-of-way cleared for Cooperative power lines, the applicant for the service, developer, sub-divider or others must clear such right-of-way ten (10) feet in width on both sides of the pole line.

I)  Permanent improvements must be made or under way before construction will begin. Permanent improvements may inlcude, but are not limited to, water well, septic tank, foundations, structures, improved driveways, etc.

J)  Where applicable, Contribution in Aid of Construction per Policy Bulletin #112 will apply to any and primary extension greater than 660 feet.

K)  Additional trips to the job site caused by the consumer not being ready or failing an inspection will be billed at the rate of $20.00 per trip.

Before a request for service can be released for construction, items (A), (B), (C), (F), (H), and (I) must be completed and/or on hand.

*If meter tampering or diversion of electric energy is discovered the deposit shall be twice (2 times) the amount of highest billing for the preceding twelve (12) months, rounded to the nearest $5.00, or $125.00, whichever is greater.

The billing deposit on residential accounts is refundable upon termination of service or upon request after twenty-four months of prompt payments.  The membership fee is refundable upon termination of service.  The membership fee and deposit on commercial accounts are refundable upon termination of service.

The connect fee is non-refundable on both residential and commercial accounts.

**An additional $30.00 fee is required when a connect is made Same Day, Afternoon, Weekends, or Holidays.  Normal working hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. - Monday - Friday.

The service connection fees also apply to applications requesting a connect for a security light.

Central Florida Electric Cooperative, Inc. will no longer have self-contained meter equipment enclosures (meter bases) available. It will be the responsibility of the new/existing member or contractor to supply the meter equipment enclosure.  See a list of approved enclosures here.
